New figures

Nearly 651 thousand young people were living in one-parent families in 2011, i.e. an increase by 8.9 thousand relative to 2010. These figures were added to the domain Young people and families in April.

New provisional figures on settled criminal cases in 2010  have been added to the domain Safety and justice in April. More than 37 thousand criminal cases involving defendants aged 12-24 years were settled by the Public Prosecutor's Office, nearly 32 thousand were settled in court.  Both figures are lower than in 2009.

In 2009 nearly 184 thousand children lived in families depending on income support, 10 thousand fewer than in 2008. Over 100 thousand families with children under 18 depend on income support in the Netherlands. These figures were added to the domain Young people and families in March.
